The Master to debut at Venice Film Festival

Paul Thomas Anderson’s upcoming film The Master will makes its debut at the Venice Film Festival on Sept. 1. The film stars Philip Seymour Hoffman, Joaquin Phoenix, Laura Dern and Amy Adams and the score is composed by Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead. This will be the second Greenwood / Anderson collaboration. The first being 2007’s Oscar winning film There Will Be Blood.

I always look forward to any Paul Thomas Anderson release and this one is no different. Magnolia (1999) will forever be one of my all-time favorite films.  Anderson really knows how to pull the most out of his actors and his stylistic storytelling truly sets him apart in the drama genre.  For those who love a good drama, like myself, this one should be an welcomed departure from the onslaught of big budget action flicks and slap-stick comedies that we movie goers are force fed on a regular basis. And I admit to liking those as much as anyone. Check out the trailer to The Master below…
